Yackity – Yac, Yackity – Yac
Yackity – Yac, Yackity – Yac
Do you ever get tired of all that junk mail; all of which someone thinks is important and you just have to have this information? I know I do. The junk mail that I throw out each and everyday, most of which isn’t even looked at, is enough to save a tree. To some people it is just “noise”. Blah, Blah, Blah. To others it is important communication.
Communication – That’s me, a Co-Team Leader for the Communications Team at Crossroads Community Church.
I would like to introduce myself. I am Deb Johnston. I have been a member of Crossroads since July of 2005 after moving here from Florida. I know, you’re asking why “here” from Florida? I grew up in Michigan and got my Bachelor’s degree in Art from Siena Heights “College”. During that time I fell in “Love”. But we broke up before I graduated. Then a few years later, we fell in “Love” again and we were to be married in 1983. But we broke up before we got married. So, I moved to Florida to start my life over. I got married in 1990 and divorced in 1994 becoming a single parent. How was I going to raise this child alone? After a lot of struggling, I turned to Christ. There were many prayers: prayers for strength, prayers for patience, and prayers for an understanding husband. I didn’t think he heard me. I asked, “God, what is your plan for my life”? I kept praying while growing closer to Christ.
God always has a plan for our lives. But, he had a lot of work to do before this plan could come together. It took 22 years. The man I fell in love with from Adrian, Michigan and I were re-united. In 2005, I took a leap of faith and we were finally married. Boy, did God do some work. We both came to know Christ during our time apart and are now happily married. In 2007, I graduated from Siena Heights University, with my Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. I have made the full circle, but now Christ in the center of my life.
We pray for many things and sometimes think God doesn’t hear us, or he is turning a deaf ear to our prayers, Blah, Blah, Blah. Well, he hears all your prayers. Sometimes his answer is “no”, sometimes it is “yes” and sometimes it is “not now, I have something better planned for your life”. My 15-year-old daughter recently reminded me of this because I was worried about finding a solution to a problem. She told me not to worry so much and said, “ All things happen for a reason. It will work out. “ Wow, from the mouths of babes! We all have to remember to turn things over to God. He has a plan and it will come together in his time, on his terms. Don’t ever give up hope. God does answer prays, so continue to communicate with Christ. It isn’t junk mail to him and doesn’t get tossed aside.
